Where I'm from
Brattleboro, VT
Where I've Lived
I was born in Key West FL, moved to Brattleboro, received my Undergraduate degree in Philadelphia, moved to NY, NY, and recieved my Master's degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
My Dance Training
I started my training at the Brattleboro School of Dance. When I was in high school, I attended the professional training program at the Dance Theatre of Harlem during the summers, but when I got to college I was hugely inspired to find my own dance voice by Curt Haworth. That’s when I began to realize that I didn’t have to A Ballet Dancer or A Modern Dancer, I could be A Dancer.
My Dance Experience
I've worked with Edisa Weeks DELERIOUSdances, Lynn Neuman Artichoke Dance, the Treehouse Shakers, Sabrina Jacob and Rachel Garis Jacob/Garis Dance Theatre.
Awards & Honors
Rackham Graduate School Merit Fellow at the University of Michigan
Promising Artist Award, University of the Arts
Other Work Experience
Bartender, Server, Model, Social Media and Marketing for Jux.com
Music I Warm Up To
That depends! If I’m performing a piece that I’ve done a million times, I can listen to anything that will get my energy up. If I need to concentrate on new choreography, I tend not to listen to anything. Instead, I find a quiet space and run the entire show in my head with my eyes closed. I’ll do my 20 minute warm-up and then I’m ready to go.
A Cool Place I've Traveled for Dance
I attended an inter-arts residency in Marnay-sur-Seine, France. The town was really small, only about 200 people, and I just ran around taking photos and making small dances, and recording video footage for a few weeks. Aside from the mosquitoes, it was heaven!
Other Talents & Interests
I love to cook! Also I take a lot of pictures of weird things I find on the ground...
